Jen's Big Day

August 22, 2008

A day etched forever in Jen's mind.
For her, it's the day forever with Alfred started.

Jennifer Erazo, my Mama Sheket, a friend since high school, got married.
She is the first Alpha Marl to tie the knot.

I'm genuinely happy for her.

But y'know what? The thought that a high school buddy is now married doesn't sit well in my head. Juice ko! Murag ga-chinese garter pa lang ta gahapon.

Hahaay!
Tig'wang na jud ko!

Anyway.

Ladies and gentlemen, I now present...the newlyweds!

Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hinlo
[How's that sound, Jen? ;) Nice, huh?!]

Some snaps from the reception...

The couple, staging their entrance.

The charming scene stealer --
the bride's happy dad!
[couldn't resist taking this shot!
Ang cute-cute woh! :D]

Now, what's next?!

More weddings?!?

Naw!
A baptism, more like.

Are we like the donkey?

Mariah had said it: "Shake it off!"
Maybe she and the donkey are happy now. chos!

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well.
The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.

Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.

He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him. They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly.
Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down. A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well.

He was astonished at what he saw.

With each shovel of dirt that hits his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.

As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up. Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

MORAL :

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up.

Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up !

Shake it off and take a step up.

Remember the five simple rules to be happy:
1. Free your heart from hatred - Forgive.
2. Free your mind from worries - Most never happens.
3. Live simply and appreciate what you have.
4. Give more.
5. Expect less from people but more from God.

"I'm 30-year-old trapped in a 14-year-old's body."
That's how Kid Nation's Sophia described herself. And I say, she's right on the spot.

This teen just blew me away.

Deep-voiced and articulate...

She speaks her mind. She will tell you what she thinks is wrong with what you do, and what's more amazing... she can do this with a voice NOT laced with accusation.

Go-getter...

She wanted a bike, but she doesn't have enough money for it. So...she taught the other kids "the three dance moves that will get you through life" for money. Simply ingenious.

...and a tad eccentric.

When she was bored out of her mind, she just laid on the middle of Bonanza City.

I can certainly learn a thing or two from this interesting kid.
